What is a USB Flash Drive?

A USB flash drive (sometimes called a "thumb drive" because of its size) is a portable storage unit that connects through a USB port. USB ports are thin and rectangular, and marked by this symbol:

Flash drives can hold large amounts of data, some as much as 2 GB. All current students should have been given a drive. If you are a current student, and you haven't received one, come to the help desk and pick one up.
