Macintosh Migration Assistant (OS 10.4/Tiger)

1. Open the Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder on the computer you wish to transfer files to. A page will come up informing you about what settings can be copied. Click Continue.

2. The next page asks where you would like to transfer files from. If you are copying them from another computer, select From another Mac and click Continue.

3. You will then be asked to connnect a FireWire cable to each of the computers. After doing this, click Continue.

4. You will then be asked to restart your old computer into Target mode. To do this hold down the "T" key until the FireWire symbol appears on youre desktop. After the text at the bottom of the window says FireWire connection established, click =Continue on your new Mac.

5. There will be a list of all the hard drives available on your old computer. Select the one that you wish to transfer files from and click Continue.

6. You can then select which users on that hard drive you wish to copy settings from. After you have selected the desired users, click Continue.

7. This page will ask you about which files and programs you want to copy. If you wish to transfer all of your programs and files, make sure that all three boxes are checked. Click Continue.

9. This page allows you to choose a few additional settings you wish to transfer over. Once you choose which settings you would like to transfer to your new machine and you are ready to begin transfering your files, click Migrate.

10. After the computer has finished transferring all of your files and settings, you will see the following window. Click done to exit the program.
