Scribe - \\scribe
Scribe is the name of Pomona's printing server. Whenever you print to one of Pomona's printers (either from a lab machine or your personal machine), your print job is first sent to scribe, which then decides where it needs to go. The process goes like this:
Note that your print quota is not debited until
after it has been released from scribe. If you
cancel your print job while it's still waiting in the print queue (Step 2), you are not charged anything.
Note about posters: Due to the expensive nature of posters, jobs sent to the ITB poster printer (ITBLB-HP800) must be released by a consultant at the
helpdesk before they will print. Otherwise they just languor in limbo in the scribe print queue until they time out (about an hour or so...).
Viewing scribe print queues
Windows
- Connect to scribe by going to Start > Run... >
\\scribe
- Double-click the printer you sent your job to in the window that appears
- Find your document in the queue. Right-click it to bring up options such as Pause, Resume, and Cancel (you can only mess with your own print jobs).
Mac OS X
- Go to http://scribe.pomona.edu and click on All Printers on Scribe
- Click on the printer you sent your job to
- Find your print job in the queue and click on the circular button to the left of it
- If your job is not in the queue it has already been sent to the printer.
- From here you can select Pause, Resume, or Cancel on the left under Document Actions
- Make sure not to confuse these links with the similar ones under Printer Actions
