How to set up poster printing in PowerPoint

1. Go to File > Page Setup.

  • a. In the Slides sized for: dropdown menu, select Custom.

  • b. Set the Width and Height to the desired values with a maximum of 42in for one side. The orientation should adjust automatically based on the values you use.

2. Now add everything that needs to be put on the poster. If you created a slide before this step, move things around to reflect the new configuration. Check to ensure that none of the text boxes were cropped so that all your text is still showing.

3. When you are sure that the poster is edited for printing, go to File > Print.

  • a. Set print range to Current slide.

  • b. Check the Scale to fit paper box.

  • c. Choose the poster printer and click the Properties button.

  • d. Under the Paper/Quality tab click the Advanced button.

  • e. Under the Paper/Output heading, set Paper size to PostScript Custom Page Size in the dropdown menu.

  • f. Enter the proper measurements for the poster. Click OK to the Advanced Options and the Document Properties windows.

Click the Preview button and make sure everything looks fine. If not, go back and try rearranging things in your slide until it looks correct. If it does, click Print, then OK. Once you have printed your poster, please notify an ITS staff member that you are using the poster printer so that we can release your job from the queue for you. If you are printing from outside the lab, you can call x18062 for assistance.
