How to set up poster printing in Adobe InDesign on a lab computer

You should be able to open InDesign from the start menu. Click on Start > All Programs > Adobe > Adobe InDesign CS. Click OK to use KeyAccess to run the program.

1. Create a new document or open an existing document by selecting the appropriate option from the File menu.

2. Go to Edit > Preferences > Units & Increments. In the Ruler Units section, set Horizontal and Vertical to Inches in the dropdown menus.

Click OK to exit the window and save these preferences.

3. Go to File > Document Setup. Set the "Page Size" to Custom in the dropdown menu, and adjust the Width and Heights. One side (width or height) can be 42 inches max. The orientation should shift automatically based on the values you supply.

  • b. In the Printer dropdown menu, select \\scribe\POM-ITBLB111-HP800.

  • c. Set the Paper Size to Custom and input the proper dimensions. Make sure that the orientation is correct. Ensure that Scale to Fit is selected below.

Once you have done this, please notify an ITS staff member that you are using the poster printer so that we can release your job from the queue for you. If you are printing from outside the lab, you can call x18062 for assistance.
