Pomona Network

The Pomona Network connects your computer to important things, such as:

warning You must register your computer before it will be allowed to access anything on the network.

Connecting to the network

Connect your computer to any active ethernet jack (either in your dorm room or an academic building) using an ethernet cable. See our dorm setup instructions for more information and pretty pictures.

The first time you connect to the network, you will be prompted to register your computer.

Wireless

The CINE wireless network is available in most of the academic buildings on campus. CINE is run by the Claremont Consortium, not Pomona, and is separate from the Pomona Network and its resources.

You can use CINE to access the internet, but you will need to set up a virtual private connection (VPN) with the Pomona network if you want to access any network resources (e.g. networked printers, your userpace, etc.).

Many students connect wireless routers to their dorm room ethernet ports. These wireless networks act as extensions of the Pomona Network, even though they broadcast over wireless. If you detect wireless networks in the dorms, these are most likely the work of personal routers.
