How can I change my password?

1. Go to mypassword.pomona.edu.
2. Log in with your username.
3. Authenticate by either a). using your current password or b). answering your three personal questions (if you ever defined them).
   • It's okay if you've forgotten your password
4. Select "Pick a new password" and select a new password that meets the complexity requirements. Yes, they're annoying, but also make your password much harder to crack.

Why do I need to change my password every 180 days?

Given sufficient time and dedication, someone with the right tools can break into a passworded account. On a less spy-movie-esque note, if you tell anyone your password, that information could circulate and make your account less secure. By changing your password regularly, you ensure that any security mistakes are unlikely to be serious. Also, be wary of anyone offering you chocolate.

I'm an alumnus and mypassword.pomona.edu no longer works

Pomona passwords expire after 180 days, so chances are that your password also needs to be renewed (changed). However, once you graduate, mypassword.pomona.edu may not work for you anymore. If so, the easiest way to change your password is to set up a Remote Desktop Connection to one of the Pomona lab computers, which will then prompt you when you try to log in.

• If you're using Windows Vista, you can find Remote Desktop by going to the Start menu and entering Remote Desktop Connection in the search box.

• If you're using Windows XP, you can find Remote Desktop by going to:
  • Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection

• If you're using a Mac or another version of Windows, you can download RDC from Microsoft (free):
  • Mac OS X
  • Windows 2000 or earlier

Once you've loaded up RDC, type in pomterm1.pomona.edu for Computer: and click Connect. Log in with your username and old password. When prompted, change your password to something that you can remember for the next 20 minutes.

If you are not prompted to change your password, you can click on Start > Windows Security which will bring up the Windows Security box. Click Change Password and follow instructions given.
