PCI

Stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect. Motherboards tend to have PCI slots to connect extra peripheral devices. Usually you can buy a PCI expansion card that can add ethernet, USB ports, Firewire ports, wireless, etc. PCI is very common, although a new standard (PCI Express) is becoming increasingly popular.
