Thunderbird

Download it here: http://www.getthunderbird.com/

What is Thunderbird?

Mozilla Thunderbird is the free e-mail client provided by Mozilla, the organization that provides Firefox. It's an alternative to Microsoft Outlook. Unlike Outlook, Thunderbird doesn't support all the features of the Pomona mail server (such as calendaring, shared contacts, tasks), but for the vast majority of people (who just use the Pomona mail server for e-mail), Thunderbird is a great alternative! It has a slick, clean interface and is usually faster than Outlook.

How do I configure Thunderbird to check my Pomona e-mail?

ITS recommends that for general use, you setup Thunderbird to check e-mail using IMAP. (Why IMAP?)

Doing even more with Thunderbird

These are a few of the neat things you can do with Thunderbird. There are probably so many more than what we've put here.

Being Secure: Setting a Master Password

If you want your e-mail to be even more secure, take a look at our master password setup guide.

Adding the Pomona Address Book to Thunderbird

If you want to be able to search the Pomona address book when sending e-mails, check out the LDAP setup guide.
