Microsoft Word

What is it?

Microsoft Word is a word processing program and the most commonly used component of the Office suite. It has a mind-bogglingly huge array of features, most of which you'll likely never use. Some people prefer alternative word processors such as Abiword or OpenOffice.org (a Google search for "alternative word processors" should yield plenty of results if you're looking to steer away from Word), but for the average user, Word is extremely effective, despite its bloat.

How do I get it?

Pomona College offers the Microsoft Office programs to all students. To learn how to download and install Microsoft Office, check out the installation instructions for PC and the installation instructions for Mac.

How do I use it?

That's an EXTREMLY lengthy discussion to be going into here. If you need help using Word, check the Microsoft Word official home page, where you can find much more detailed information about the program and its use.
