Licensed Software

Pomona College owns site licenses for all of the following programs. This means that any Pomona student can install and use them for free.
Microsoft Windows
Pomona owns site licenses for Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, and Windows 2000. Due to the nature of our license,
we can only install Windows on a computer that had a previous legal version installed on it at one time. This means that if you buy a new computer, make sure that it comes with a version of Windows installed or we won't be able to help you. Come up to the
Helpdesk or call (x18062) if you want an upgrade. If you aren't sure whether your hardware can support an upgrade, check out the
requirements page.
Note: Mac users with Intel-based machines who want to dual-boot a copy of Windows using Apple's Boot Camp do qualify for a free installation.
Microsoft Office 2003/2004 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Pomona owns a site license for Office 2003 (most recent PC version) and Office 2004 (most recent Mac version). These are available at:
McAfee Antivirus
Pomona also owns a site license for McAfee Antivirus. This program is free for students. (We require that you either have McAfee, Norton, or AVG Anti-Virus running on your machine.) Download it at
http://antivirus.pomona.edu, and be sure to check out
our McAfee page for further information.
