Internet Protocol (IP) Address

Example: 134.173.91.172

Your computer's IP address is a set of numbers that uniquely identifies it on the Internet. IP addresses are like telephone numbers in that computers use them to communicate with each other over the Internet. Unless you have a "static" IP, your computer's IP address will usually change as time goes by, although those handed out by the Pomona networks usually don't change very often.

IP addresses are sets of four numbers separated by decimal points, (see example). All Pomona IP addresses begin with 134.173.

Checking IP Information the Ridiculously Easy Way

If, for whatever reason, you need to check the IP of a computer that has internet connectivity, go to http://www.whatismyip.com. It displays your IP address at the top of the page in big, bold letters, and as the title of the webpage.

Note: If you are using a wired or wireless router, this page will show the address of your router, not your individual computer. If you need the address of your computer, you will need to use one of the above methods to determine it.
