NOTE: Available hours for room visits are marked in bold italics.

  • Monday - Thursday: 9:00 AM to midnight (6:00 PM to midnight), helpdesk is closed during the lunch hour

  • Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, helpdesk is closed during the lunch hour

  • Saturday: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

  • Sunday: 1:00 PM to midnight (6:00 PM to midnight)

Our hours of operation are different during finals week and school vacations. Special hours will be posted around the computer labs.

NOTE: Full-time (non-student) IT staff work normal (8 to 5) hours.

J. C. Cowart Information Technology Building (aka ITB)

ITS is located in the J. C. Cowart Information Technology Building, which is located just north of the Edmunds building. The main entrance of the IT Building is on the south side of the building (facing 6th Street).

The entrance door has a card swipe on it to provide Pomona students, faculty, and staff with 24 hour access to the computer lab.

Students have a few options available to them for technical assistance:

  • If you call the ITB Helpdesk (x18062), a student consultant will be able to help you over the phone. If you call when the desk isn't staffed, leave a detailed voicemail message (including your full name, phone number, and a description of the problem) and we'll call you back when we return to the desk.
  • If the problem is too complex to be handled over the phone or if you would simply prefer to let an ITS consultant deal with it, you have two options:
    • If you have a laptop, you can simply show up at any time during our helpdesk hours and a consultant will assist you. Due to staffing limitations, we are unable to schedule room calls for students with laptops (unless the problems are specific to your room, like a broken ethernet jack in your room). Please bring the power cable for your laptop!
    • If you have a desktop (or a problem with something in your room), you should call the Helpdesk (x18062) and schedule a time for a consultant to make a room visit. Please make sure that you will be in your room for your appointment!

Legal limitations

  • Due to various legal liabilities, students cannot leave their laptops with ITS. Computers are expensive and we wish to avoid all possibly confusing situations. (More information about this policy)
  • Unfortunately, ITS consultants are not allowed to alter/fix/install most hardware in your computers (exceptions are made for laptop hard drives) for liability reasons. For more information please see our hardware repair page.
