Viewing your e-mail with Gmail

Gmail can automatically download e-mails from your MyMail account into your Gmail inbox.

  1. Sign into Gmail (if you don't already have a Gmail account, you can sign up for one)
  2. Click Settings in the bar at the top right.
  3. Click the Accounts tab in the bright orange bar
  4. Under Get mail from other accounts click Add another mail account
  5. Enter your MyMail address. For example, ces02006@mymail.pomona.edu
  6. Fill in the following information:
    • Username: your MyMail address again (for example, ces02006@mymail.pomona.edu)
    • Password: the password to your MyMail account
    • POP Server: pop3.live.com
    • Port: 995
    • Click the Always use a secure connection (SSL)... checkbox
    • Be default, Gmail will empty your inbox after it copies all your mail. If for some reason you want to keep the original messages in your MyMail account, click the Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server checkbox.

  7. Gmail will ask you if you want to set up a second From: alias. If you click yes, you will be able to make some of your outgoing mail appear to come from your Pomona MyMail account. If you click no, all outoing mail will appear to come from your Gmail account.
  8. MyMail messages should begin to appear in your inbox. You can check the status of Gmail's connection to your MyMail account by following steps 1-3.
