My account was disabled and now I can't access my e-mail!
Senior e-mail accounts are officially disabled on the last day of the September after you graduate. Once this happens, you won't be able to access any of the e-mail you've received over the past 4 years unless you back it up to your computer. This page has instructions for doing this.
NOTE: If you would like to set up a forwarding account for your old e-mail account, click
here.
Step 1: Contact ITS
First you need to temporarily re-enable your e-mail account. First, send an e-mail to
helpdesk@pomona.edu with the following information:
- Your full name
- Your old Pomona username
- A way to reach you (preferably an e-mail address that you will check often)
We will contact you once a full-time staff member has temporarily re-enabled your account (it will be disabled again after one week). Once that happens, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Renew your password
Pomona passwords expire after 180 days, so chances are that your password also needs to be renewed (changed). However, once you graduate, mypassword.pomona.edu may not work for you anymore. If so, the easiest way to change your password is to set up a
Remote Desktop Connection to one of the Pomona lab computers, which will then prompt you when you try to log in.
- If you're using Windows Vista, you can find Remote Desktop by going to the
Start menu and entering Remote Desktop Connection in the search box.
- If you're using Windows XP, you can find Remote Desktop by going to:
-
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection
- If you're using a Mac or another version of Windows, you can download RDC from Microsoft (free):
Once you've loaded up RDC, type in
pomterm1.pomona.edu for
Computer: and click
Connect. Log in with your username and old password. When prompted, change your password to something that you can remember for the next 20 minutes.
If you are not prompted to change your password, you can click on
Start >
Windows Security which will bring up the Windows Security box. Click
Change Password and follow instructions given.
Step 3: Backup your e-mail
Now you can finally backup your e-mail! Click
