I am the instant messaging duck...

AdiumX

Download it here: http://www.adiumx.com/

What is Adium X?

Adium X (also just called Adium) is a free multi-protocol instant messaging client for Mac OS X with an incredibly customizable user interace. You can use it to access AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and several others (all at the same time).

For those who are curious, it is built on top of Pidgin, so it supports basically all of the same features that Pidgin does.

Why use Adium?

First of all, Adium does not and will not ever contain any spyware. It will also always be free. Second, it has a more customizable interface than iChat and also supports chatting with people using all the other popular instant messaging clients.
